This Spring Break I'd decided to move around the South-East of the United States, mostly checking out Civil War memorials at Vicksburg and  Shiloh. Along the way I stopped at State or National Parks. The next destination was The Great Smokey Mountains at Tennessee which spread well into North Carolina. From there I headed homewards, finally....

Here is a pictorial essay of my journey. A more detailed textual narrative will feature elsewhere.

Mario was my constant companion throughout this journey. We drove exactly 2847.7 miles across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Arkansas in approximately 9 days.

5^th April, Monday: DeSoto State Park, Little River National Park, March towards Cloudland Canyon.

6^thApril, Tuesday: Cloudland Canyon, March towards The Great Smoky Mountains, Russell Cave: Pre-historic site.

 7^thApril, Wednesday: The Great Smoky Mountains.

 8^thApril, Thursday: The Great Smoky Mountains.

9^th April, Friday: The Great Smoky Mountains, March towards St. Louis via Kentucky and S. Illinois.

 10^thApril, Saturday: St Louis, home.

11^th April, Sunday: March to Baton Rouge via Mississippi and Arkansas.
